Who we are

Matt Zudweg aka: “Zuddy” is a USCG Captain and has been guiding on Michigan’s Muskegon River since 2003 with Feenstra Outdoors.

Matt is most passionate about “the take” and therefore often chooses techniques that capitalize on the take best, like fishing poppers for smallmouth bass and swung flies for steelhead and trout. Matt may be best known in the industry for his bass fly, the “Zudbubbler”, a modern version of the vintage Gerbubble Bug.

 When not on the water, he can usually be found in his studio creating artful balsa poppers.

Matt’s goal with this website is to create a One-stop-shop for everything you need to tie his most productive fly patterns.

In early 2025, Matt sold his company Boneyard Fly Gear to Bob Buchanan (Buchanan Enterprises), a cousin-in-law and long-time friend. Matt remains a designer for the brand.
